Organic rice, safflower & cover-crops within fallow wetlands rotations. Smaller fresh-market crop plantings as well. Water management skills are essential. Candidate must manage & maintain precise water levels over acreages through canals, ditches & weirs. Crop production includes biological soils management & ground operations, planting, irrigation, harvest and crop residues management. Coordinate ground operations with Equipment Manager for tractors, implements & repairs.
Qualifications include experience & knowledge of soil biology & horticulture. An interest in wildlife conservation would serve well. Water management skills are essential to control weeds, decompose crop residues and maintain wildlife habitat.
