General Description
Four Elements Farm, located between Atascadero and Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo County, CA, is seeking the perfect match for a unique opportunity. Are you an innovative organic farmer looking for a sustainable living situation where you can be the caretaker for a property, manage educational workshops, grow herbs and food and implement projects for beautification and infrastructure improvement? This job demands hard work, self-motivation, good time management skills, land management skills, and all with a continually positive attitude. Base salary and housing provided – 12x16 off grid solar tiny house with a walk to shared composting toilet and outdoor shower. Qualifications:
• 3-5 years farming experience, preferably with orchards and row crops
• Carpentry skills, Permaculture design skills
• Ability to work on tractors and other equipment
• Drivers License, Must have vehicle
Preferred:
o Non smoker
o PDC graduate
Responsibilities include and are certainly not limited to:
o Managing and improving the quality of the farm, the buildings and the landscape
o Completing daily farm tasks, feeding/cleaning/caring for chickens
o Planting, organizing and managing an 8-12 share CSA for Elemental Herbs
o Growing calendula and increasing production of herbs for Elemental Herbs
o Managing and expanding existing orchards
o Maintaining equipment, Producing biodiesel and/or SVO
o Weeding, Weed whacking, Tractor mowing
o Marketing and running Permaculture workshops and other educational opportunities
o Generating ideas and implementing them for increased revenue and farm beautification
o Completing carpentry projects for new infrastructure or fix ups as needed
o Maintaining and leveraging greenhouse production, Up keeping landscape
o Up keeping the yurt and yurt surroundings
o Creating water catchment systems
o Implementing techniques for short and long term benefit to the place
o Composting
o Watching after the property when owners are away
o Budgeting, Invoicing, Selling to local markets and/or farmers’ markets
