Job Purpose

The Farmer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, developing and executing the long-term farming strategy, providing organic expertise, and assisting in education at the farm. The Farmer will provide strategic leadership for the Field Supervisor and seasonal farm staff and maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for staff and customers. The Farmer will be a steward to the land and facilities by fostering a productive organic farm that nurtures the surrounding ecosystem and the people who work at and visit the site.

Cascadian Farm® is one of the country's leading brands of organic foods. The story of Cascadian Farm begins over 40 years ago on a little stretch of land next to the Skagit River in the Cascade Mountains of Washington. Today Cascadian Farm has grown far beyond our original farm. Acquired by General Mills in 2000, Cascadian Farm sells cereals, bars, frozen fruits and vegetables, spreads, and juices.

The heart of our brand, our 28 acre organic Home Farm grows eleven acres of blueberries, one acre each of strawberries, raspberries, sweet corn, and pumpkins, as well as some hardy kiwis, and greenhouse peppers and tomatoes. The remainder of the land is planted in grassways. Located in a temperate rainforest zone, the Farm receives approximately 80 inches of rain a year with temperatures ranging from 25 – 50° F in the winter and 50 – 90° F in the summer. The Home Farm operates a farm and ice cream stand and serves the organic community through research and education.
